A first opportunity for all new incoming students (both undergraduate and postgraduate) to socialise over some refreshments and to introduce yourselves to one another and members of Faculty and the Programmes Support Team.

My Education

 

BSc Programme Induction- 1.30pm-3.00pm, Parish Hall, 1.02, Campus map

This compulsory session will give you an introduction to the Department and provide you with all the key information you need as you embark on your first steps as a ½ûÂþÌìÌà Social Policy undergraduate. You will hear from key members of Faculty and your Programmes Support Team about a wide variety of topics, covering important questions such as ‘ What do I talk to my Academic Mentor about?’, How will I be taught?’, ‘What opportunities and events are there for Social Policy students?’'

 

UG First Year Pizza Party- 3.00pm-5.00pm, Parish Hall, LG.03, Campus map

Come and enjoy this informal social event where you can chat to one another over some pizza and drinks (food provided by the Department)

My Support and Opportunities

 

Race Matters Launch Event – 12.30pm-2.00pm, Auditorium, CBG, Campus map

Find out what the Department is doing to break down racial barriers at ½ûÂþÌìÌÃ, decolonise the curriculum and how you can get involved in the Race Matters initiative!

BSc Social Policy Support session- 1.30pm-2.30pm, Parish Hall, 1.02, Campus map

Your wellbeing and taking care of yourselves is important. At this session, you will hear more about the various support services and resources to bolster your mental health and wellbeing, both within the Department and more broadly at ½ûÂþÌìÌÃ. You will receive ideas and information about how to manage your wellbeing whilst you navigate your studies, and where to go if you need some help or support. You will also find out about how the Department will be supporting you to develop your academic and professional skills throughout your degree.

Your first opportunity to meet your Mentor Group, as you start to get to know one another, discuss how you will work together and find out about some of the Departmental academic and social activities you will be enjoying this year.

 

UG Treasure Hunt- 12.00pm-1.00pm

Get to know your Mentor group by embarking on a treasure hunt in the area of London close to campus! This is a great way to explore your new campus neighbourhood, whilst working as a team to solve clues as you race against the clock… and the other teams!

 

Social Policy Buzz Event- 4.00pm-5.30pm, Auditorium, CBG, Campus map

Come and chat with faculty from across the Department about their careers and research, life as an academic, their experience of influencing policy and engaging with policymakers or anything else that springs to mind!
